Most of us struggle with housework. Its always there, it always needs to be done, but there are always other things to be done, people to see, places to go.
So here's six ideas to help get you motivated to get your housework done and stay motivated.
1. Create a specific time box for yourself to achieve the housework in. Within that allotted time do the best you can to achieve the tasks that you need to do. It doesn't matter if you go over the time, just make sure the time you allot is the minimum time you spend on that task. You can use this method for whatever size task you choose. For example, you could allow 15 minutes to cleaning out a closet, 30 minutes to cleaning the kitchen, or two hours for clearing out the garage. Once the time-box is over, you'll feel great about yourself for having done it.
2. Have a daily and weekly to-do list, and reward yourself when the tasks are completed. You have to stay disciplined but just checking down the list and ticking off the tasks as you go can be incredibly rewarding.
3. When you have mastered the lists, create a daily routine of those tasks. This doesn't work for some people, but many people really resonate with this method. Create a daily list of tasks that need to be achieved and stick to it everyday. That's it really!
4. Put some music on in the background. Pick songs that make you feel energetic. It goes quicker if your singing too. Works for me every time!
5. Watch a programme like "how clean is your house?" or "Who's got the messiest house?" Do you know the type of programme I mean, where a team of people go into an extremely messy house and clean it out and basically humiliate the owner? Try watching one of these programmes before doing housework. It certainly gets me motivated!
6. Alternatively, spend time with freakishly tidy people. The more time you spend with people who are organized, the more you become like them. Try it, it works!
